Development of Life Skills

NDIS Life Skills Support Across Perth and Western Australia

Development of Life Skills

The path to independence starts with the right foundation. True Path Care works with NDIS participants throughout Perth and Western Australia to develop the everyday skills that make real independence possible — from managing a household to building meaningful relationships and preparing for the workforce.

Small skills, practised consistently, lead to lasting change.

What Is Development of Life Skills?

Development of Life Skills sits under Capacity Building Supports — Improved Daily Living in the NDIS framework. Unlike ongoing care assistance, this support is focused entirely on growth — teaching participants the skills to handle everyday tasks and life challenges on their own terms.

It covers two areas that work together:

Daily Living Skills: the hands-on, practical tasks of everyday life. Cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, grocery shopping, and using the Perth public transport network.

Life Skills: the broader personal capabilities that help you navigate the world. Managing money, regulating emotions, making decisions, communicating clearly, and organising your time.

Together, they build a stronger, more self-directed life.

Key Areas We Support

Everyday Living Skills

From preparing a nutritious meal to keeping a home clean and safe, we help participants develop the routines and practical habits that underpin daily independence across Perth and WA.

Communication and Social Skills

We assist individuals in discovering their voice by teaching them how to communicate effectively, interact with others, handle social situations, and create the relationships that enhance communal life.

Self-Management and Emotional Wellbeing

Staying organised and emotionally balanced takes practice. We teach practical tools such as planned routines, goal monitoring, and stress management approaches that participants may use freely in their daily lives.

Money and Independent Living Skills

Understanding how to budget, pay bills, shop wisely, and manage a home are skills that unlock true independence. We support participants across Western Australia to handle these responsibilities with growing confidence.

Workplace Readiness

We assist individuals with employment prospects in developing the professional skills required for success, such as punctuality, workplace communication, following directions, and presenting confidently in interviews.

Our Approach to Life Skill Development

We learn by doing. True Path Care support workers work alongside participants in real settings. The kitchen, the shops, public transport, and the community are where we truly build and retain skills.

Support is paced entirely around you. We celebrate incremental progress, adjust our approach based on what works, and involve families and carers where appropriate to reinforce skills beyond formal sessions.

The measure of success is simple, needing less support over time, not more.

FAQ

What are you looking for?

Yes. True Path Care works with participants across the greater Perth metro area and surrounding WA regions. Get in touch to confirm service availability in your location.

Personal care helps with tasks a participant cannot yet do on their own. Life skills development teaches participants to carry out those same tasks independently. The goal is to make ongoing assistance unnecessary over time.

Absolutely. It is one of the most impactful supports available to young people in Perth and WA who are transitioning from school. Building practical and social skills early creates a much stronger foundation for adult life.

It sits under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living. This reflects the long-term, skill-building nature of the support rather than day-to-day assistance. Your NDIS planner can confirm what your current plan includes.

Progress looks different for every participant. Some skills develop quickly with regular practice, while others take longer. Our team tracks progress consistently and adjusts the approach to keep momentum going, wherever you are in WA.
